Since then a number of people have been working extremely hard working out what to do next.. We’ve now worked it out. This is what needs to happen before we move forwards into church: -
Phase 1 - Removal of ceiling tile debris
Phase 2 - Low level clean of nave and chancel
Phase 3 - Remove, clean and temporarily store all furniture
Phase 4 - Dispose of any porous materials that cannot be cleaned (such as electrical equipment, fabric and carpet)
Phase 5 - Instal scaffolding to get up to the ceiling. This kind of scaffolding is known as either a bird cage, dance floor or crash deck.
Phase 6 - High level clean of roof and ceiling joists
Phase 7 - Removal of the entire AIB ceiling
Phase 8 - Removal of all loose lath and plaster
Phase 9 - Instal new ceiling made of plasterboard
Phase 10 - Dismantle scaffolding
Final clean of the building
Sign off by HSE
Put back the furniture
We hope to be able to announce in the very near future that a contract has been awarded for the works which will then take about 4 months to complete. Watch this space!
